We use multicore splices(D-150-0174) from time to time and I was wondering if there is a way to have splices with multiple pins in Vesys and yet have it be a single part in the BOM..

How can I create a part in Library Manager where the symbol and cell has different pin count?
I have to create a special DC/DC Converter where the cell has one pin less than the symbol that means one physical pin on the converter is a high voltage lead which will be connected to the front panel of the PCB later.
Is there any way to create such part?

Is the PADS ES suite the same as PADS Standard Plus?
What are the difference between the PADS ES suite and the PADS Standard Plus suite? Looks like there is some additional functionality gained but also some is lost. (DxDPF).
Why are paying customers not directly informed with pricing and proposals to convert existing Bundles or Suites to new Suites (with the reportedly lower costs) ? This should correspondingly lower support costs as well, right ?

How do I simulate hetero devices?
I am trying to simulate two parts of a heterogeneous device such as a dual op amp. My 1st symbol (OPAMP_Dual_A.1) contains power pins but my second symbol (OPAMP_Dual_B.1) does not. What do I have to do to simulate them both on the same schematic? The problem is attaching the model (which has 5 model pins) to the symbol which does not have the power pins. I think I have to use the SIGNAL property but nothing seems to work. The model refuses to map the symbol pins to the model pins because the symbol power pins are not there.

Script for duplicate / copy plane shape to other layers in one shot
I need to duplicate/copy one plane (rule areas, route obstruct, plane shape) from Layer2 to others multi-layers (Layer5...Layer9...etc) on shot at the exactly same location.
I'm looking for a script that can pop a menu with selection check box and to allow me to choose which layers that I want copy to.
Is there anyone know how to write a script to run this script?

DFF: Error: Layer Compare Error
I have 2 different designs.
The one I am currently working on I started from scratch. I have only started a couple from scratch in Pads.
I have modified a lot of others using the same libraries and parts.
I am using the same part on the new board as is on a different board. The board set up by our last layout guy does not have
these errors but the new one does. I saw someone say that this error is commonly a display width minimum problem.
I have set that minimum width to 0. I still have 81 of the same error on the board.
Any ideas about what the cause is?

Do we require to purchase a separate license to use Design Inspector in HarnessXC?

When I try to run design inspector in HarnessXC it shows me the following message
"There are no inspection views available"
The problem is I am able to load only the custom plugins provided by our organization but not the licensed plugins which comes along with the Capital package.
The plugins folder is available in the path C:\Program Files\MentorGraphics\Plugins. I do have only read access to this folder and no write access. please let me know whether this problem is occurring because of licensing or folder access.

How to add 3D models to cells in CENTRAL library?
Hi everyone!
I'd like to add a 3D model to a cell in the central library, but I can't find the way how. If I simply open the cell editor, select a component, click edit graphics, there is an option in the window drop down menu "Add 3D view", thus I can assign a 3D model from M3DL to the selected component. This works fine, just it only assigns the model to the local library, and when I open the cell editor in xDM library tools (central library) I do not have this option, so when I open a new project I have to do it again and again for every component. It would be great, to manage this through the central library, so the 3D models would appear automatically in every new project too. In the layout design if I go to 3D->Models->Update models it writes "No 3D model library available!", I thought the M3DL library should show up there as a "central" (?) 3D library, or do I have to create a model library myself? Please help me solve this issue.

How to export global signal names from DxDesigner?
Hello,
I am working on a project for some engineering stakeholders and I have been asked to export global signal names as part of this project. Global signal names appear on nets. I do not know how to do this and searching on the website has not yet yielded any answers, although I will keep looking. Does DxDesigner have that function natively or will it require a script in order to perform this task?

Layout translation from Altium
I'm trying to work with a layout file from a customer (done by another consultant) in Altium. I have a .pcbdoc file from Altium. I've tried importing it into layout, but get a bunch of warnings. The .log file (attached) has lots of warnings about that things it can't handle, but ultimately, it says:
"[F] The input design is too large for PADS Layout. Reduce the size of the design to 56000 mils square and try again."
In the Gerbers I have for the design, I see there's a large drawing border about 20 x 15 inches. That should be within the limits for PADS, so I don't understand the problem, but that's what I'm seeing.
I really don't want to ask my customer to ask the other consultant to remove the border and re-save the database... especially since I figure there's a substantial possibility the end result won't be usable anyway. I did try importing it using V9.5 and VX.1.1. I also tried the stand-alone PADS Layout Translator - that gave the same results, just in a window.
Any suggestions?

Following a direct link to a restricted Community space may result in "Not Found" error message
We have been made aware of an issue with the latest Communities update which causes an error message to be displayed to users following a direct link to a restricted Community space when they are not logged in to Communities.
This is particularly relevant to users following links from Capital or VeSys help menus to Communities.
Instead of being presented with a login page, users may see the following message on the Communities site:

Suddenly unable to have multiple software keys / dongles inserted concurrently
The Problem
I am no longer able to run different CAD programs on my Windows 7 system concurrently. For years, I have run four CAD software programs (Cadence Orcad, Mentor PADS, Altera Quartus, Mentor Hyperlynx). I often have several of these programs up and running at once. Each of these software programs require a unique USB security key ("dongle") to be plugged into the machine or else it will not run. My computer did an automatic update last night. Now, when I have more than one key plugged into my machine, none of my CAD programs operate.
Windows 7 and earlier Windows versions have allowed me to have all four keys in my machine at once. This has been great. I've been lucky to be able to use the tools that I know and like. It never occurred to me that someday they would not work together.
If I plug one of the keys in at a time, I can get programs to run singly. This is a pain, especially since Orcad doesn't run after a USB key has been hot-plugged unless you first run lmutils to manually stop and start its driver. It's also a pain for logistical reasons, as I currently have all my USB keys taped together onto a mini USB hub so that I can sometimes use them with my laptop at home or at a client. The idea of having to worry about individual keys makes me a bit anxious. We have an ARM compiler license dongle that moves around from machine to machine at the office and we have lost it several times!
Mentor's Response
Mentor has told me that this is not their problem, that this is a Microsoft problem. They also said Windows 7 does not support running multiple keys, and that this has been a problem since Windows 7 was released. Basically, I was lucky to have this work at all. Mentor suggested the following:
- Plug and unplug keys whenever I open and shut software. Not so ideal, as I often do quick back-and-forth ECOs between my Cadence Orcad schematics and my Mentor Pads layout. I really need to be able to have these two programs up and running at the same time
- Get each of the vendors to key their software to a single key. I'm skeptical that this is even possible. Not to mention it taking weeks. CAD tool vendors are understandably sensitive to having software keyed multiple ways at once and I suspect they'd want me to send them the keys first, which means I'd be out of business until the mess was completely running.
- Get my software keyed to my Ethernet NIC. This would work at my office, but not on my laptop. I need to be able to occasionally bring my laptop and software out to clients.
- Set up a central license server and then VPN to work when I need to use a machine. There is, of course, an added cost to doing this, and I'd have to pay someone to set this up
- Set up and run Windows XP, as this is guaranteed to be able to run multiple keys. I have no idea of what kind of effort it would take to get an old machine running. I'd have to somehow transfer my Office licenses over to that machine. Doesn't really sound like it's really practical.
- Contact Microsoft and ask them to fix the problem. Yeah, Mentor really said that. Given that there are probably only a few thousand affected people out of their hundreds of millions of customers, are they really going to pay attention to me? And, if they do, how many months or years will it sit on their "fix it" list before it gets touched? Anyway, I posted something on their discussion board, just in case :-)
- Reinstall from a backup and turn-off auto-update. Doesn't sound like the perfect approach, but is probably the only workable one for now. At some point there's going to be a patch or security update that I'm going to need....
Questions and Thoughts?
- Has anyone else run into this?
- Does anyone know what specific update caused this to stop working?
- Does anyone have a workaround that gets multiple keys running concurrently?
My immediate approach is going to be to try installing the system from a backup. I unfortunately haven't done a full one in several months but it's the only thing I can think of.

xDX Designer Part Lister missing components
Does anyone know how to fix a problem where the parts lister in the integrated DX Design flow outputs a .csv file with no components? I'm using the DefaultCSV file, changed the delimiter to a comma and then adjusted the columns to output the manufacturer PN, Qty, and reference designators. The resuling file I get is:

The weird part was that it showed some of my 30+ components when I used the unaltered config. Thanks for any suggestions. I've found some really weird bugs in the integrated flow but I'm also learning this flow for the first time so I don't if it's a new bug or just an old dog learning new tricks.

Through-Hole Libraries?
Hello,
I am currently making a board in DxDesigner and I need to replicate it from Eagle. This schematic uses this 40 pin header(MA20-2) from a library(con-lstb.lbr) that comes with Eagle when it is installed. Here is a link:
